Tattoo Removal

Many people get tattooed and then go on to regret the decision in later life. Thankfully there is a solution. Now part or all of a tattoo can be removed bringing pleasing results through a series of sessions of laser treatments at Snowberry Lane Clinic.

Results will vary depending on the size and age of the tattoo and the inks used. This will be discussed at your initial consultation at the Clinic.

How are the tattoo inks removed?
The Medlite laser uses the energy of light to remove the ink. A hand held laser is passed over the tattooed area delivering light energy which breaks down the inks into tiny particles. These particles are then removed by the body's own natural filtering systems.

Will the tattoo completely disappear?
The overall results depend on the colours and type of inks that were used to create the tattoo. Some respond better to treatment than others and more than one treatment is usually necessary. Professional tattoos require more treatments than amateur tattoos.

Is the procedure painful?
The laser emits a series of short pulses on the surface of the skin which feel similar to being lightly flicked. Most patients will suffer no discomfort however anaesthetic creams can be used if required, depending on the size and location of the tattoo.

What can I expect after the laser treatment?
The affected area may be treated with antibacterial ointment and a dressing to protect the skin during recovery. There may be some pinpoint bleeding but this is minimal. It is important to keep the area clean for the following few days and to follow the after care instructions as prescribed. It is advisable not to scrub the area during normal bathing. If a scab forms it is important not to remove it but to leave it to heal naturally.
