What is it and how does it work?
Radio surgery is a modern elegant method of removing raised skin lesions without cuts or stitches bringing excellent cosmetic results.
Is there any risk to my health or are there any side effects?
The procedure itself is very safe although no surgery is without its element of risk. However, we take a full medical history before we proceed to ensure this risk is minimised. In some cases there can be bleeding, infection or scarring but with proper after care there should be no further complications. Unfortunately this procedure is not suitable for people with pacemakers.
Will I need to take time off work?
It is usually possible for you to return to work immediately after the procedure. However, you may wish to take the rest of the day off depending on the site of the lesion but should be able to return to work the following day.
I am interested but terrified of needles, is there any other way?
The needles we use are very fine causing little discomfort. However we can also apply a special cream 2 hours before the procedure to make the injection painless.
How much will it cost?
The total cost includes consultation and procedure followed by any after care service though this is usually minimal, and the histology which is performed as a matter of course following lesion removal.
What if I have more than one lesion to remove?
It is possible that these can be removed at the same time for a small additional cost. Please ask the doctor for details.
Are there any pictures of before and after?
Yes, at the initial consultation, Dr Gabriel will be happy to show examples of previous work to illustrate the effectiveness of the technique.
Will I feel any pain once the anaesthetic has worn off?
Any pain you feel will be minimal and should be just a little discomfort. This can be alleviated by taking simple pain killers such as paracetamol.
Will the blemish ever come back in the same place?
Some moles have a deep element and so recurrence in these cases is possible. A repeat procedure at a later date in these cases may be required.
How long will it take for the area being treated to recover?
The wound should heal within one to four weeks and a dressing may be required initially, depending on the size and site of the lesion.
