Last week on the blog we discussed Botox and how versatile this treatment can be. We mentioned that it can be used for treating hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and in this week’s post we will be going in to more detail about just how beneficial Botox for hyperhidrosis can be.

Hyperhidrosis commonly occurs on the brow and underarms, but can happen all over the body, for many people the condition can lead to loss of confidence as they attempt to mask the issue. Unfortunately traditional methods and the use of antiperspirants has very little effect on the issue, however Botox is fantastic in providing a more definite and longer lasting solution
To understand why an individual would need this type of treatment, it’s good to know why hyperhidrosis occurs and how Botox relates to this. When an individual sweats, the sweat gland under the skin is releasing fluid after increasing in size. For people who suffer from hyperhidrosis, this action repeats unnecessarily and frequently, regardless of factors like humidity and physical activity. Sweat glands will overwork if they’re allowed to contract and keep expanding.
The gland works in much the same way as muscle tissue does under the skin, and as such, it is an ideal candidate for treating in the same way. Botox can be used to calm the gland reduce contraction, therefore preventing the excessive release of sweat. It is a highly effective way of treating hyperhidrosis that we would recommend if you, or someone you know, suffer from the disorder. Clients who have undergone this treatment in the past confirm that it is a much more amiable solution than using strong deodorants or having to wash and change clothes more frequently.
