On the blog today we’re going to walk you through you what
happens during an earlobe repair procedure.
Traditionally, repairing the earlobe would be done with a
scalpel, which would mean that the area would be prone to more bleeding,
reducing the precision and efficiency of the procedure and increasing recovery
time. At Snowberry Lane Clinic we use Radiosurgery, which uses a specially
designed handpiece containing a very thin wire. Radio waves are passed along
the wire which seals the blood vessels while the cutting is occurring, reducing
bleeding and making for a cleaner more efficient and precise procedure.
Here’s a video so you can see it for yourself:
As well as the procedure itself being more efficient,
another benefit of Radiosurgery for earlobe repair is the reduced downtime.
Following the treatment clients can return to their daily routine the following
day. This would only be affected by the job of the client, as there may be some
discomfort in the area while it heals, a job where ear defenders or any other apparatus
that puts pressure on the treated area would require longer recovery time.

If you’re considering getting a cosmetic treatment that will
give you the best results in time for Christmas, now is the time to get in
touch with Snowberry Lane Clinic. Today on the blog we’ll be looking at timing
treatments properly so that they will help you look and feel your best in the
lead up to this special time of year.
We often have clients looking to make an appointment for a
treatment in the days leading up to a special occasion or event only to find
they have left it too late. In almost all cases, it’s not the scheduling of the
appointment that’s the issue, but the lack of knowledge around downtime and
recovery. Many of the treatments we provide are non-invasive and have minimal
downtime, but different treatments take different amounts of time to develop
and achieve their best results, so it’s important to take this into consideration.
BOTOX:
Botox prevents small selected muscles from contracting to
help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Time it right: Allow
for 6 weeks before event, this gives time for area to settle and be topped-up
and full results to be visible.
Number of treatments
required: 1, results last 3-6 months, regular top-ups needed.
Sensitivity period:
Some slight discomfort during treatment and possibility of bruising.
Results visible:
Commonly results are visible after 2-4 days with end result being visible after
2 weeks, at this point Botox can be topped-up if required.
FILLERS:
Dermal fillers consist of an injectable gel substance that
is medically designed to imitate hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring
substance that helps to keep skin stable, locks in moisture and also helps with
renewing and healing skin. They are most commonly used to increase volume to
targeted areas of the face.
Time it right: Allow
6-8 weeks before event for best results.
Number of treatments
required: 1, results last 6-18 months, regular top-ups needed.
Sensitivity period:
Some slight discomfort during treatment and possibility of bruising
Results visible:
Some clients see immediate results, with improvements continuing for up to a
month depending on the type of filler and the area being treated.
RADIO SURGERY:
Radio Surgery is suitable for the removal of moles, lumps
and bumps on, or just beneath the surface of the skin. This treatment allows
for precision cutting of the skin using a very thin wire, the wire is heated
with radio waves which means the blood vessels are sealed as it cuts making for
a clean and efficient removal.
Time it right: The
area can be covered by make-up after 2 weeks. Ideal healing time before event
8-12 weeks.
Number of treatments
required: 1, results are permanent, although some legions can reoccur.
Treatment time:
30-60 minutes.
Sensitivity period:
Some discomfort during and straight after treatment, which can last for a few
days depending on the procedure.
Results visible:
Immediately, if it is a raised legion shaved to skin level then appearance will
be comparable to a graze so it will take approximately a few weeks to a month
to heal to a point where it is less noticeable, depending on your skin type. If
suturing is required, then healing will take longer.

In today’s blog we’ll be looking at microdermabrasion, how
it works and what results patients can expect to achieve.
What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a procedure that uses specially
designed microcrystals to gently exfoliate the skin, removing dead skin cells
helping to rejuvenate the top layer of skin, which in turn helps to promote the
natural growth of collagen underneath the surface. This treatment is designed
to improve the appearance, texture and feel of the skin on the face.
What does the treatment involve?
During the treatment medical grade micro crystals are worked
uniformly over the skin to cleanse the pores and target problem areas, this
process activates the natural production of new skin cell growth helping to
improve the appearance of the skin. Patients with minor acne and blackheads
around the upper forehead and sides of the nose can benefit greatly from this
treatment.
Is it painful and is
their downtime?
Microdermabrasion is not painful at all. Many of our clients
compare it to a getting an exfoliating facial treatment and even describe it as
a ‘relaxing’ treatment. After Microdermabrasion you can return to your normal
day-to-day routine with no downtime at all, which is what makes it a great
treatment ahead of an event.
What results can I expect?
We recommend a course of 3-6 treatments to achieve the best
results, however even after a single treatment, clients report their skin
feeling softer, fresher and rejuvenated. It’s a great treatment to have in the
build-up to an event, with clients reporting feeling like their skin was
‘glowing’ after a completed course of treatments.
If you’d like to find out more about Microdermabrasion, or
any information on the non-invasive treatments we provide at Snowberry Lane,
we’d love for you to get in touch. You can do this by e-mailing us at enquiries@snowberrylane.co.uk
or giving us a call on 01225 700072.
In the last few years there’s been a huge trend towards
full, defined and bold eyebrows, long gone are the days of highly plucked thin
brows. Some peoples’ brows are naturally fuller and thicker, but many people achieve
this look with eyebrow pencil or other clever make-up solutions. This has lead
to an uptake in people looking for a more permanent way to create this look
that doesn’t require daily application.
Semi Permanent Make-up or SPMU, uses a specially designed
facial tattoo machine to create the impression of hairs allowing us to enhance
the appearance of your eyebrows in a way that appears natural.
Who is this treatment
for?
Someone looking for an enhancement to their
natural eyebrows
Someone who participates in sports that require
make-up that can withstand athletic activities
Someone wishing to reduce the amount of time
they need to spend on their daily make-up routine
Someone who is suffering from partial to full
hair loss due to long-term conditions such as Alopecia or Cancer
How long does the
treatment take?
SPMU treatment takes 90 minutes, depending on the individual
client’s requirements. This includes the application of topical anaesthetic
cream to numb the treatment area.
What should I expect
after treatment?
After treatment, clients
may experience some redness and irritation, scabbing and light to moderate
swelling in the area. After the first week, the skin in the treated area will
begin to gently come away and the pigment will lighten. After 6-10 weeks it is
possible that you might want to come back for a top-up treatment to fill in any
areas affected by the healing process.
What are the different treatment options?
Ombre:
Ombre brows are created by varying the density of the pigment
from more concentrated to faded, creating a more delicate effect like that of a
softer pencil brow. This option is a good choice for clients who have little to
no eyebrow hair.
Hair Stroke:
Hair stroke creates the appearance of individual hairs that
are built up to give the effect of a fuller natural looking brow. This is the
perfect choice if your eyebrows are thin or sparse and you’d like them to look more
defined.

Tattoo Removal is one of the most popular procedures
available at Snowberry Lane Clinic, with many people seeking to remove black
ink tattoos that they now no longer want. Tattoo removal works by using laser
technology, that delivers short pulses of laser light energy to the tattooed
area. The dark pigment in the ink absorbs this energy and is destabilising and
breaking it down.
How
many treatments are needed?
The removal of a tattoo is a big commitment, it takes multiple treatments over
a long period of time and the number of treatments needed depends on the size
and age of the tattoo as well as the individual’s skin type. On average around
10 treatments are needed. Each treatment must be 2 months apart in order to let
the skin heal itself properly, so as you can see it takes years to fully remove
a tattoo.
Does it hurt?
The short answer – yes. We try to minimise discomfort with topical anaesthetic
cream, but much like getting a tattoo, it is not a pain free process. People liken
this treatment to the sensation of a rubber band being flicked against the
skin.
What happens after the treatment?
After the procedure a dressing
will be applied to treated area which can stay in place for up to 24 hours.
There will be some whitening to the skin and in some cases some redness,
swelling and very light bleeding.
What
are the results?
After a full course of treatments, you can expect for the tattoo ink to be
completely removed, leaving next to no trace of the tattoo. In some cases, if
the full course is not completed, very slight ghosting can occur, giving the
very faint appearance of the old tattoo, but for some clients the tattoo is
still reduced enough to cover up or be unnoticeable.

Laser Liposuction such as BodyJet can offer a less invasive
alternative to traditional liposuction, it uses a very thin cannula to deliver
a specially designed medical solution into the fat tissue. This encourages the
fat to lose structure, so it becomes loosened allowing for it to be removed
using suction.
Who is BodyJet suitable for?
This treatment is recommended as an option for people who
are happy with their overall weight but looking to reduce fat in problem areas
that are resistant to diet and exercise.
Reduced Invasiveness
Traditional Liposuction is a more invasive treatment
requiring general anaesthetic (putting the client fully to sleep) and scalpel
incisions. It is a more aggressive form of fat reduction removing a higher
volume of fat and can create trauma in the treatment area, which leads to
bruising, tenderness and swelling for approximately two weeks after the
procedure. BodyJet is designed to be more gentle, requiring only a local
anaesthetic (numbing of the treatment area only). However the treatment is
still likely to create tenderness, swelling and bruising, but it will be to a
lesser extent than traditional liposuction.
Effectiveness and results
With Bodyjet a proportion of fat is removed at the time of
treatment, but further fat cells are loosened and broken down in a way that
makes it possible for your body to remove it more easily. This method allows
for more natural looking results that take longer to show, with the results
developing over the following weeks and months after the procedure.
Downtime
BodyJet does not require an extended healing period and
patients can return to daily activities straight away, although experiencing
tenderness is likely. Results for nonsurgical fat reduction are less noticeable
but you will be able to return to your normal daily routine (excluding
exercise) much sooner.
If you are interested in exploring your options further, a
great starting point is a consultation. Please give us a call on 01225 700072

Two of the most popular methods of hair removal are shaving and waxing, which although both are proven to be effective, require regular maintenance and can have negative side effects such as ingrown hairs and damage to the skin’s surface. Laser Hair removal aims to offer a long lasting solution to unwanted hair by collapsing the hair follicles so that hair can no longer grow.
Laser Hair Reduction is best for treating unwanted hair with
a dark pigment, this is because dark hair facilitates the travel of the laser’s
energy. Unfortunately light hair is not able to be treated in the same way.
Number of treatments: 6-9 minimum, treatments need to be spaced around the hair growth cycle so 6-10 weeks apart. It’s important to consider this if planning the treatment for a particular date.
Getting ready for Treatment:
Steer clear of the sun. You cannot receive treatment if you are tanned or sunburned so you need to avoid sun exposure in the month lead up to treatment (this includes sun beds).
Stop waxing. Laser hair removal requires the presence of the hair to reach the follicle, this means you can’t wax before treatment.
Final preparation. The day before your treatment you’ll need to remove the hair in the treatment area by shaving.
Treatment Duration: 30-60 minutes
Anaesthetic: Topical anaesthetic cream
Sensitivity Period: Some discomfort during and straight after treatment. You might experience some redness after treatment, which is a common side effect and should only lasts a few hours. Immediately after treatment, we recommend you avoid activities such hot baths, saunas and exercise) that create excess body heat.
Back To Work: Straight away, there’s no downtime for treatment, but if you’ve had treatment on your face you might not want to go back to work immediately.
Duration of Results: Top up treatments might be required depending on the individual. This is usually annually or less

The majority of the clients that visit our clinic are looking for anti-ageing treatments, and sun damage is the most common cause of premature ageing. We want to share our 4 top tips to help you look after your skin in the sun so that you can stay looking youthful for longer.
1. Use sun cream everyday
UV is present whatever the weather so sun cream should be worn on the face and other exposed areas daily throughout the year.
It is important to know that not all sun creams are created
equal, so be careful in your selection:
Make sure it’s a broad spectrum cream carrying a
UVA and UVB symbol
If it has a star rating, use a minimum 4 star
Make sure it has a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of
30 or above
Don’t forget to protect your lips with an SPF
30+ lip balm
Storing and applying sun cream:
Store in cool place
Keep an eye on the expiry date, and replace once
out of date
Apply generously 20 minutes before sun exposure
Reapply every 2 hours (more frequently if
perspiring or after swimming)
2. Cover up with clothing
This is a super simple one – covering your skin with the
right clothing can be one of the most effective ways to protect your skin from
the sun.
Cover any skin that is exposed and not protected
with sun cream, especially areas that can easily burn such as neck and
shoulders
Clothing with a closer weave will provide more
even protection
Wearing a hat with a wide brim is a great way to
protect the face, neck and ears
Be careful with sports caps – they do protect
the face, but they leave the neck and ears exposed
3. Stop the squint with sunglasses
The way that we move our facial muscles creases the surface
of the skin, which overtime creates wrinkles. Squinting in the sun is one of
the big culprits contributing to accentuating smile and frown lines – put a
stop to this with sunglasses.
Look for glasses carrying the European Standard
‘CE’ Mark, UV 400 or British Standard Mark as this ensures the sunglasses offer
a safe level of UV protection.
Look for a close fit to the face, any large gaps
between your eyes and the lenses will reduce your protection by allowing UV
rays to reach your eyes.
4. Stay in the shade
Shade can provide excellent sun protection and should be
used to keep your skin safe:
Seek shade when possible, especially during the
hottest hours of the day between 10am and 4pm when UV penetration is strongest
Never rely on shade alone, always combine with the
protective measure listed above

products or treatment options please give us a call on 01225 700072.
HIFU stands for High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound, the way that this ground breaking treatment works is through a specially designed hand-piece that delivers thermal energy in the form of multiple beams of ultrasound to stimulate collagen. It is the collagen within the skin that gives us a more youthful appearance and HIFU works to activate this, helping to contract and tighten the surface of the skin. HIFU is specially designed to penetrate the layer of the skin which is tightened during traditional facelift surgery, however, as HIFU is non-invasive the downtime is significantly reduced and the cost of treatment is much lower.
Sensation during treatment: It is common to experience some discomfort and a tingling sensation depending on the intensity.
Number of treatments
required: Most commonly only one to two sessions are required. Maintenance
required every 6 months.
Sensitivity period:
Immediately after treatment, the skin is likely to appear red for a few hours,
some clients experience slight swelling and tenderness for up to a week after
treatment. The areas can be calmed with ice packs if required, further advice
will be given during the consultation and in the aftercare paperwork.
Visibility of
results: Normally some improvement can be seen within 3 to 4 weeks
following treatment, with further improvements developing for up to six months.
Results ordinarily last for 6 months or more.

Here at Snowberry Lane Clinic we offer two main treatments to help with unwanted veins such as broken, thread or spider veins. These veins can appear anywhere on the body, most commonly the face and legs. In appearance they are very thin, and sit just below the surface of the skin, they are often red, blue or purplish in colour.
Treatment option 1 –
Laser Vein Treatment:
Laser vein therapy works by targeting the treatment area
with a focused beam of heat energy, this heat causes the vein to coagulate and
seal. The vessel is then broken down and is able to be reabsorbed by the body
over the next 4-6 weeks.
Best for treating:
Thread veins
Spider veins
Facial veins
Thin leg veins
Number of treatments: 2 minimum
Treatment Duration: 30-60 minutes
Anaesthetic: Topical anaesthetic cream
Sensitivity Period: Some discomfort during and straight
after treatment
Back to work: Straight away
Duration of results: Top up treatments required as veins
reoccur. This is usually annually or less
Treatment option 2 –
Microscleratherapy
Microscleratherapy uses a specially designed solution that
is injected into the target veins, it works by restricting blood flow to the
vein and causing it to fade and in some cases disappear. This treatment is
designed to activate the bodies natural repair process, which is why some
clients can experience light bruising in the treatment areas. Within a few days
this dies down and after a few weeks patients are left with uniform colouring
around the skin.
Best for treating: Thread and spider veins on the legs
Number of treatments: 1-2
Treatment Duration: 30 minutes
Anaesthetic: Topical anaesthetic cream if requested
Sensitivity Period: Some slight discomfort during treatment
and possibility of bruising
Back to work: Next day
Duration of results: Can be permanent but it depends on the
individual as veins can reoccur
