One of the most popular and well-known cosmetic treatments in the world, Botox, has been used for decades and delivers results with minimal to no side effects. Here at Snowberry Lane Clinic we have been carrying out this treatment for over 17 years. In this blog post we’ll be discussing how it is used to treat wrinkles and reduce the signs of ageing.
Botulinum toxin is a purified form of a toxin called clostridium botulinum. When injected under the skin, Botox causes the muscles to relax, decreasing the level of contraction a muscle is able to perform. This reduces the movement in the muscle – the action responsible for creasing the skin, which is how lines and wrinkles are created. As the muscle relaxes the skin becomes smoother, which in turn sees wrinkles on the surface fade.
At Snowberry Lane Clinic we ensure that the treatment is as safe and efficient as possible. This includes a full consultation before any treatment to talk through all of the details and make sure it’s the right treatment for you. We also cool the skin in the treatment area to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
We’ll be talking more about the different uses of Botox in future blog posts to highlight how versatile the treatment is. If you are interested in finding out more about Botox treatments for wrinkles and other areas, you can give us a call on 01225 700072.
Excessive sweating known in the medical field as Hyperhidrosis
can cause people stress and embarrassment when antiperspirants don’t work and
clothing can’t hide it, but you don’t have to suffer in silence. Here at
Snowberry Lane Clinic we offer Botox to reduce excessive underarm sweating.
How does it work?
The treatment works by blocking the nerves that stimulate your overactive sweat glands. Botox injections would be delivered directly into the area of your body that commonly sweats, preventing your nerves from triggering your sweat glands thus reducing the amount that you sweat. However, Botox only prevents sweating in the specific area where it’s injected.
What can I expect during the treatment?
The practitioner will inject the Botox just below the surface of the skin using a very fine needle in a grid pattern around your area of concern. You can return to your daily routine straight away with no down time. In some cases a follow-up appointment is required to check in and touch up any missed areas.
What can I expect after the treatment?
Botox is a highly effective treatment for excessive sweating. For many people, it drastically improves their quality of life. It commonly takes up to 1-2 weeks for the treatment to take effect and reduce sweating in the treated area. Botox is a temporary treatment, meaning you’ll need to maintain the effects of treatment every 4-14 months
